In the next corner it’s John Cena, who kicked off his Hollywood career with fun actioners like The Marine, before hitting it big with comedies and the DC property The Suicide Squad. And in the third and final corner we have Dave Bautista, who can go from high-profile sci-fi like Bladerunner 2049 to cracking jokes in the MCU as Drax in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. Three tremendous careers, approximately a billion combined hours in the gym, and damn near a trillion dollars earned in tickets sold, PPVs witnessed and merchandise generated.

In this era, advanced technology like computers and atomic weapons are strictly forbidden. Instead, most technology relies on human brainpower. Specially trained “Mentats” have conditioned themselves to operate as living computers. One such Mentat is the cunning and twisted Piter De Vries, who serves House Harkonnen. His rival is the House Atreides’ Mentat Thufir Hawat. Where Beast Rabban offers Baron Harkonnen physical might, De Vries plays a game of psychic warfare between the warring Houses. He is played by The Suicide Squad’s David Dastmalchian, who previously worked with Dune director Denis Villeneuve on Prisoners and Blade Runner 2049. Dune opens n the US and UK on October 22 and in Australia on October 21.

If you were excited to see that Dave Bautista re-teaming with Blade Runner 2049 director Denis Villeneuve for the highly-anticipated Dune adaptation, know that you were only half as enthused as the man himself. When Collider sat down with the actor to talk Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead, we also discussed the great honor he felt in Villeneuve offering an integral part of his massive sci-fi epic, a role that Bautista says “have people looking at me differently” in the same vein as Blade Runner 2049.
